In God's House

In God's House: Asian American Lesbian and Gay Families in the Church

Asian American lesbians and gays have been largely invisible in Christian churches. Some Asian American churches silence the issue for fear of division and conflict. Other Asian American church leaders have condemned homosexuality and publicly protested against same-sex marriage. Yet lesbian and gay Asian Americans and their families worship and serve in churches every day. Where are their voices? This honest and thought-provoking film tells a story that the church needs to hear: that of Asian American Christian lesbian and gay people, their pastors, and their parents.

Caught in Between:
What to Call Home in Times of War

This documentary captures Muslim and Japanese American communities revisiting the dark days of the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II. Interviews with former internees, their children, religious leaders, citizens and immigrants from Japanese and Muslim American communities are woven together to make crucial connections between then and the current “War on Terrorism.” Caught in Between tells a story about people who have been made the enemy, questions “freedom” in the USA, and captures the power of people standing together to fight for civil liberties and human rights.

Story of Margo

Deconstructing the cinematic language traditionally used to view women, Story of Margo documents one woman’s experience as a sex worker. The voyeuristic and probing camera movement seeks to illustrate Margo’s frank and articulate testimony while challenging the commodification of women’s bodies in mainstream media. The piece was created as part of Hellavision, a San Francisco based television show that was created for and by youth.
